Well, I was sucker enough to be touched by that article. I've lived in NC for over 20 years as a result of military life, and it all seemed both incredibly normal and incredible that a White trooper prayed with a Black chemo patient instead of shooting him. Lived here too long, I guess.
Off-topic: There was a really good opinion piece by Jamele Bouie(sp?) in either the NYT or WaPo about the soft bigotry of low expectations as applied to Mike Pence when he was hailed as a hero for refusing to cave to Dumpy's pressure.
