June, 20 – Reynaldo Flores, 48, is a U.S. Army Veteran who served in the first Gulf War. A former starting linebacker at Espanola Valley High School, he is the father of two, divorced in 2008, with a history of substance abuse and mental illness. He sleeps in his car, usually off of Oweenge Road near Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
He works at Pueblo Mineral Resources bagging plant for $3.90 an hour.
“Off the books, definitely,” Flores told the New Mexican. “But it’s cash and I get free lunch. No bite from the tax man. No check-cashing fee. They’re good people over there.”
