There are no landslides in the desert. Unless you start writing newspaper articles about potential corruption, then it’s like someone tipped a dump truck full of dirt on your desk. It took me nine months of intermittent poking around with city, state and county agencies — and two Freedom of Information Act requests — to document labor and payroll irregularities at PMR. Then, in the space of 72 hours, I get about a million calls and emails with (supposed) hot tips about PMR and the Hergenroders.
